It does this by drawing inspiration from Minecraft’s aesthetics while adding enough details to make it something entirely new. It somehow captures the beauty and awe-inspiring details that most AAA games invoke, yet it still keeps the essence of Minecraft’s original textures. This extra attention to detail makes the Pixlli resource pack stunning and wholly unique. Illystray completely scraps the core of Minecraft’s visuals and makes them brand new. Most resource packs aim to alter the preexisting textures and improve upon them, but this isn’t the case for Pixlli. You’ll know exactly what you mean when you see it in action. While everyone’s preferences vary, and deciding what the “best” resource pack is will be incredibly subjective, it’s our opinion that this is one of the highest-quality texture packs out there. Illystray, the creator of the Pixlli resource pack, might have made one of the best resource packs to date. Is it a natural formation? Why is just a tile wide for most of the time. The Pixlli resource pack is an incredible work of art that breathes new life into Minecraft by refining its textures. Was the path build afterwards? Why is it so complex. Was the room submerged by the lava? Or magma? Then, why are the spikes just outside the path. Look for shortcuts in a park, where people sit to get some sunlight or quiet time and so on. If you need inspiration just look around you. That’s just some examples for building maps for the sake of having places to run through. Plenty of books behind the counter of a grocery store? Nah. A labyrinth at the start of an old mine? Not so much. Just start and get a good eye for things that work. It’s some little things that can make a huge difference without doing everything new.Īnd don’t bother about a formula how it should be done. After building a house, you could just cropped the standard interior to look more fitting when placed on a shelf or something. Nothing to interact with, just a little body of water, igniting the imagination. Why not have a little water at one place in a dungeon. Not everything has to be a straight corridor or a rectangle. But think about creating more interesting Lay-out in maps. You can much easier give your standard tiles your own twist like changing the colors. I don’t want to be mean, but you clearly haven’t the time to really go into this parallax thing. So tl dr, I feel unsure about using Parallax Mapping because of how much work would be on a project that's already long enough and with results that just don't satisfy me because bigger things and scenery are NOT my strongest points, but I feel pressured to use it anyway because I feel the game otherwise will rot in obscurity because nobody would want to try it for looking too "RPG Maker". But in a map like THIS?!Īnd this is just ONE section of an early dungeon. The town was already meh enough despite all the freedom I had there. This is just an incomplete attempt I couldn't bring myself to finish because I just hate how it looks.Īnd also, there's the issue of trying to make things like dungeons look good doing this. Doesn't help that I don't have a tablet so EVERYTHING has to be with the mouse. I guess it is easier with more showy sprites and Photoshop effects, but with my pixelated style, it just feels too slow. It feels it is too much work for such lousy looking map. (these are old screenshots, I've done some modifications since then)Īnother thing that bothers me is that my attempts to do a Parallax map. Honestly modify the edited tileset to make it look different than the default one would be a lot less work, but I guess that still wouldn't look good, right? Of course, this isn't enough to make the game look good, not help that before knowing how repelling the original tileset is to people, I just redraw the default tileset. So I have some doubts about it.įirst of all, because my character sprites are done manually, I redid the tileset to some extent so it wouldn't look out of place. However, it is also pretty tiring to do, especially if you're the only one working on a project and you don't have too much free time to work (or want to use part of your free time to do things other than just working on your game because, passion project or not, is still working). We all know what PM is and why is looked up as the best option to make your game special and better looking to potential players.
